About Us

Blue Heron Headwaters Conservancy is a local 501 (c)(3) nonprofit and we envision a future where protecting nature is top priority. It’s our hope the work we do today preserves the quality of life for communities, ecosystems, and future generations in Michigan. We work to acquire land and property easements for the purpose of conserving the woods, fields, streams, wetlands and other natural resources in the headwaters areas of the Clinton, Shiawassee, Huron, and Flint rivers.

Our mission is to protect the land, water, and wildlife in the headwaters region of the Clinton, Shiawassee, Huron, and Flint rivers through preservation, stewardship, and education. Our vision is to support biodiversity and the quality of life for our communities and the future generations of Oakland County and beyond.
